Institutional Compliance
If your research involves humans, animals, rDNA and/or biohazards you will need to submit a protocol to the appropriate compliance office(s).
Human Subjects
Please visit http://researchcompliance.tamu.edu/irb/welcome for more information.
Animals
Please visit http://researchcompliance.tamu.edu/iacuc/welcome for more information.
Hazardous materials, select agents or recombinant DNA
Please visit http://biosafety.tamu.edu for more information
You can also find additional information about this process by calling the Office of Research Compliance at 979-458-1467 or by visiting their main website at http://researchcompliance.tamu.edu/.
Once you have an approved protocol please forward a copy to the Research Foundation.
The Research Foundation must receive a copy of the approved protocol, even if it is exempt. This process is very important because you MUST have the proper approvals in place before you can begin spending project funds.
If you have any questions, please contact Cheryl Asher at casher@rf-mail.tamu.edu or 979-845-8093. You can forward approved protocols and certificates of completion to her by email or send them to her attention at TAMU MS 3578.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS INVOLVING HUMAN SUBJECTS
Beginning January 1, 2009, only the Collaborative Institution Training Initiative (CITI) course will be accepted to meet human subject requirements.. Investigators will be required to submit CITI completion with new Initial or Continuing Review Applications.
Also starting January 1st, the CITI refresher course will be implemented. The refresher course is similar to the initial CITI course, but it is more condensed and has more complicated scenarios. The refresher course will be required two years from the date of Investigators’ CITI course completion.
